Novel Imaging Mode –extending the limits of microscopy

A technology that will allow imaging of processes at the nano-scale, which is a significant leap forward from existing techniques that can only provide structural information at the nano-scale.  The technology will be implemented as an alternative imaging system for an AFM, and has generated early interest from leading vendors.

Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diodes (QD-LED)

A sol-gel based process is employed to produce an all inorganic QD-LED that consumes 1-2 orders magnitude less power to generate equivalent luminance of an incandescent or fluorescent light bulb.

Marine anti-fouling

Non-toxic, low-cost coating that prevents biofouling of ships' hulls and water treatment equipment.  The coating works by camouflaging the surface to look like water, thereby preventing bacteria and diatoms from adhering.
