OPAL Therapeutics is investigating a novel, simple and easy to administer vaccine for HIV and HCV.

The company has secured US$6 million in its first stage capital raising from a syndicate of US and Australian investors.

The OPAL technique boosts the immune system's ability to fight chronic infections and should delay the onset of AIDS in HIV-infected patients.

OPAL plans to take the treatment through Phase I human clinical trials for both HIV and Hepatitis C.
